Strasse is a group of Italian artists founded in Milan, Italy, in 2009 by F. De Isabella and Sara Leghissa.
Having run in 2009 the Casa Strasse space in Milan with Elena Cleonice Fecit, a place that hosted theatre and dance workshops and productions, since 2010 the group has been without headquarters and devotes itself to actions in public spaces.
In the last years the group produced Drive_IN (2012), SOLO (2014), HM/ HOUSE MUSIC (2016), TH END (2017), THE END – Un altro modo per dire la fine (2018).
The company developed also other projects as EXIL and T.REX, which use the format of the party to generate connections, to knock down categories and remove the distinction between different audiences and between artists and audience.
Strasse is associated artists to Triennale Teatro dell’Arte in Milano for the period 2017/2019.
ABOUT THE WORK
Strasse works within the frames of performance and cinema, investigating relationships between movement and urban landscape, using cinematic language as a filter to understand and witness reality. Strasse aims to bring the performance into channels and spaces of the
urban life, gaining backgrounds, signs, temperatures, without subverting their meanings but stealing them from the unflappable daily flowing and carrying them, for a moment, elsewhere. Strasse’s artistic research is mainly based on the practice of site-specific creation. It gives the audience the possibility to change their point of view, allowing them to see what already exists, in order to create new frames surrounding scenes and things.
