Oliver Zahn (*1989) is a theatre maker from Germany, working in various capacities both on stage and behind the scenes. His work is being shown at various important festivals in the german speaking countries (e.g. IMPULSE, Tanzplattform, Steirischer Herbst) and is being presented internationally (e.g. Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Spain, Italy, Romania, Hungary, India, Tunesia, Palestine, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic).
ABOUT THE WORK
Oliver Zahn’s performance essays circle around the politics of history and remembering, as well as collective memory and identity. Based on extensive research made up of work in the field, in the archive and on stage, the resulting work is situated on the intersection of performance art and contemporary dance.
Past works include SITUATION WITH OUTSTRETCHED ARM (on the history of the Nazi Salute), SITUATION WITH DOPPELGÄNGER (on cultural appropriation and minstrelsy) and SECOND ESSAY ON GYMNASTICS (on performing citizenship in the history of the German Gymnastics Movement).
