“They are, to my mind, one of the most exciting prospects in British theatre” Matt Trueman, Whatsonstage
Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas (France/UK) are the creators of EUROHOUSE (2016), PALMYRA (2017), ONE (2019) and THE END (2019).
They came together to make a show 3 years ago, and quickly found a form and an ethos that felt unique. They are now working on their fourth piece together which considers the end of the world in relation to climate change, and what the end of their working relationship might look like.
Their work to date has gathered enthusiastic responses from critics in The Guardian and The Times, won several awards and toured to major festivals including PuSh (Canada), MESS Festival (Bosnia), Festival de Otoño (Spain) and Adelaide Festival (Australia). They are Associate Artists with MAYK and International Associates of Farnham Malting.
ABOUT THE WORK
Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas break down complex political or social questions into an accessible, immediate form.
Their work questions both their own – and the audience’s – role as ‘active’ spectators in global conflicts, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
They mix humour and violence, explosive physicality and stillness, the profound with the plain stupid – all to undercut and explore darker aspects of contemporary subjects.
